Japan, Pakistan, Brazil and Indonesia were the countries highlighted in our 2010 church's summer program for children the first week in August. Thirty-two children, fourteen staff, including four youth, participated in four exciting days of worship, slide presentations, songs, games, crafts and snacks. On Thursday evening the children presented a program of songs and drama, portraying folk stories, and also told of the work of Christians in these countries.
One hundred twenty dollars and eighty five cents, mostly in pennies, was collected by the children for schools in Pakistan, and sent to "Pennies for Peace" headquarters in Bozeman, Montana (Three Cups of Tea).
Kudos to Lexi and Sam Fix for counting the pennies, to all the children and especially to Grace Newman who did herself proud in collecting pennies. Thirty cloth bags were decorated and filled with school supplies the children brought in to provide "School Kits" for Church World Service to send to schools somewhere in the world which are poor or who have suffered disasters.
Thank you to the teachers: Kathy Abbatello, Jackie and Geoffrey Fix, Jennifer Mullett and Noelle Winters; assistants: Rylie Ayles, Sam Fix, Carla Puchini and Sara Duggan; snacks: Susan Leete; Crafts: Edie Zabel; musicians: Barbara Eismeier, Bill Speed and Lisa Catino; and finally to Larry Donahue, Clyde Work and Penelope Rebuzzini for their unique contributions.
