CARE PACKAGES FOR SERVICE PEOPLE

The Peace, Affirmation, & Justice committee is collecting items for people serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you have relatives or friends serving there, please bring in a photo which we will display on our bulletin board in Fellowship Hall.  We will begin collecting items to send them soon, culminating in a collection on November 7th, the Sunday closest to Veteran's Day.  Here is a list of what is needed so you can be gathering your items.

Disposable razors, baby wipes, Solar Shower (about $6 at Walmart, camping department), tube socks (thick dark brown or black), underwear, (large especially, but all sizes), plastic bags (kitchen trash bags are good for laundry), cotton swabs, toothbrushes and tooth paste, boot inserts, odor eaters, Lamisil powder & creams, hand sanitizer, eye drops, lotion, sun block (sport with HIGH spf), vitamins, peanut butter, crackers, canned chicken/ turkey, chewy bars, granola bars, containers of Country Time lemonade/Gatorade, El Paso or tortillas that last a LONG TIME, those with beans and salsa are always welcome. Canned soup and fruits (pop top lids are nice), instant oatmeal with flavors and Poptarts are good.

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey.  We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ.  These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background.  The Inquirer/

New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it.  Light refreshments will be offered.  New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service. If you have questions, please speak with a minister.
