ANNOUNCEMENTS
There is no Contemporary Worship Service today – please join us again on Sunday, October 3rd.
Next Sunday, Sept. 12 – no 8:30am service – all are invited to “Welcome Home Sunday” at 10am followed by an All-Church Picnic. All are invited to join us as we kick off a new program year with worship and Communion, followed by a picnic. Please bring some food to share: persons/families with last names A—F: desserts or fruit; G— N: salads; and O—Z: side dishes. We’ll round out the picnic with hot dogs (some veggie & gluten-free options available), and drinks. Hosted by the Board of Christian Education.
The Harvest Fair Plant Room will once again be featuring indoor plants, silk flower arrangements, gardening books, herbal soaps, and decorative garden accessories. A new offering this year will be natural beeswax candles. Please keep us in mind when propagating your indoor plants, and clearing out your garden sheds and book shelves. Donations will be picked up starting on the last week of September. Call Holly Bollier at 203-458-0776 with any questions.
Guilford Interfaith Ministries’ is Looking For People for its Friendly Visiting Program - a group of caring volunteers that visit any homebound, isolated, or lonely Guilford resident once a week for a year. There is no fee and visits are flexible. Visits can be as simple as a quiet conversation or as involved as taking someone on a little adventure. If you are interested in being a volunteer visitor or being visited, please call Lori Wells at 203 453-8359. There is a short orientation for our volunteers.
Pakistani Flood Relief: Church World Service Pakistani staff is working to provide the basics of food packages, shelter materials and non-food essentials to families who have been displaced by the worst flooding there in 80 years. CWS medical teams are also there to provide emergency health services. You are invited (even urged!) to contribute to this effort by writing a check payable either to: Church World Service or to First Congregational Church, Guilford, FOR "Pakistani Flood Relief." Please drop it in the offering plate or at the Church Office.
Guilford Food Bank Needs: 100% fruit juices; canned fruit, tuna, ham, hash, stews; pancake/meal/potato/cake mixes; boxed mac & cheese; dry milk, canned tomato products, dry cereal. You may bring your donations to worship and leave them in the narthex.

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ. These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background. The Inquirer/
New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it. Light refreshments will be offered. New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service. If you have questions, please speak with a minister.
