Journeys in a Jet Age: Tu Han, Dios, Kimisama, and Allah are all words for God in the countries of Indonesia, Brazil, Japan and Pakistan where First Church Journeys participants will travel to via worship, crafts, snacks, skits and games beginning Monday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 5, 9:00 am until 12noon It is not too late to register; call Betsy Work (203-458-7708) or the church office.
August Nursery Volunteers Needed! Our regular care-givers need a break, so we are looking for volunteers to staff the nursery during the 10:00am service.. For ‘Safe Church’ policies, we ask that two unrelated people sign up together to provide this service to our little people. From the UCC Calendar of Prayer for July 25 (brought to your attention by the Board of Community and World Concerns): Zimbabwe is a place of struggle and strength, of potential and problems. It is a place of warm hospitable people who in the midst of difficulties offer a smile and a helping hand to visitors. A prayer by Herb Perry, a longtime friend of Zimbabwe, closes: “…We especially ask that you be with mission agencies as they struggle to continue providing essential humanitarian service.”
Big Y, Bishop’s Orchards, & Stop & Shop Cards: Each Sunday after worship these gift cards are available for purchase for $100 each– in cash or with a check made payable to First Congregational Church. The church receives a percentage of each card sold.
Guilford Food Bank Needs: 100% fruit juices; canned fruit, tuna, ham, hash, stews; pancake/meal/potato/cake mixes; boxed mac & cheese; dry milk, canned tomato products, dry cereal. You may bring your donations to worship and leave them in the narthex.

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ. These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background. The Inquirer/
New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it. Light refreshments will be offered. New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service. If you have questions, please speak with a minister.
