ANNOUNCEMENTS

Final Pilgrim Fellowship Event Today at 3:00pm – We begin with the screening of the 2009 Mission Trip DVD in the Sanctuary, to which all are welcome: PFers, Advisors, parents, Mission Sponsors and other supporters, including incoming 9th Graders.  Immediately following, for all PFers from the past 5 years and their families, and all Mission Sponsors, will be the End-of-Year Picnic, RAIN OR SHINE!

Alpha Club Picnic:  The Alpha Club will meet on Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30pm at Benton’s Beach for its annual picnic.  Members are asked to bring a salad or dessert.  Hotdogs and hamburgers will be provided.  Those wishing to car-pool should meet in the church parking lot at 5:15pm.  All Are welcome!

Next Service of Prayer and Healing Wednesday, July 8th 7:00pm. This special service of music and prayer offers the Laying on of hands and Anointing with oil for those who so choose.  All are welcome.  Note that beginning in the fall the service will move to the third Wednesday each month.

Pilgrim Fellowship Director Job Opening: The First Congregational Church is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as Director of its high school youth group, the Pilgrim Fellowship. The mission of PF is to create a broad-based and close-knit fellowship, provide an atmosphere where the moral and faith issues of the day can be explored, give opportunity for youthful exuberance and the joy of life to be fully expressed, and to serve those in need. With assistance from a team of well-seasoned adult volunteers, the Director will plan and lead regular Sunday evening meetings (academic year) of approximately 60-100 teens, organize local service projects, retain relevant speakers as necessary, coordinate fundraising efforts, and conduct an annual mission trip during April school vacation. Calling All Crafters!  The Harvest Fair crafts group will meet Thursday, June 18th in Griswold Hall, 6:00-8:00pm.  Please bring ideas, samples of crafts, and your enthusiasm to our brainstorming session. Expertise is not required (really!), and we welcome new faces!  We will continue to meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays until the Harvest Fair on Nov. 7th.

Journeys in a Jet Age- our summer program for children entering grades 1 – 7 will be held Monday, August 3 - Thursday, August 6.  Come meet a dragon from China, a giraffe from Kenya, an elephant from India and a sheep from Peru.  Learn to say, "Thank You, God" in four languages.  Forms for registration can be found in the Narthex  – pick yours up today!

Need a Ride to Worship?  The Board of Deaconesses will find drivers for those needing rides to any service: Sunday morning, the Contemporary Service, Service of Prayer and Healing, etc.  Please call Mary Jo Puchini, coordinator (458-6522).

Food Bank Needs:  Urgent: canned meat-stew, hash, ham, chili, chicken.  Bathroom tissue, juice, school snacks, canned fruit, coffee, tea, pancake & cake mixes, dry milk, boxed potato products, tuna or hamburger helper, sugar, flour, dry cereal, boxed mac & cheese.

Community Dining Room Offers nutritious meals for individuals and families impacted by the economy, lost a job, or had work hours reduced.  Full Breakfast on Saturdays 9:00am -10:00am; Lunch
Sunday – Friday noon – 1:00pm and Family Dinner on Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:30pm for families with children which includes kids reading program & arts activities; Wednesday Night Carry-out - to request call Melissa at 488-0447 by noon Tuesday to reserve your dinner.  Pick up Wed. between 3:30 – 5:30pm.  All programs and meals are offered at no charge to the community.  CDR is located at 30 Harrison Avenue in Branford.
