Today there is a combined Adult Forum/Inquirers’ Meeting at 11:15 am in the Chapel. Kendrick will speak about “The Congregational Way” - what makes us unique among Protestant denominations. He is eager to answer all your questions. Come learn more about First Church and the United Church of Christ.

Today - 4:00pm - Joyful Noise! Concert with David Darling and Mary Morreale in the Sanctuary. The Senior Choir joins David Darling, world-renowned cellist. Don’t miss this wonderful concert! Continuing the Sacred Conversation: We do plan on actively pursuing our sacred conversation on race in America with multiple programs in the fall. If you are interested in being on a committee to plan some of these programs, please contact Kendrick.
CDs of Worship Services are available to sign out in the Spencer House kitchen. They are kept in a black zippered binder on the bookshelf opposite the table. Please fill in the information on the sign-out/in sheet; this enables us to contact you if needed. Out of consideration for others, please keep a CD for one week. When you return it please sign it back in. We are currently missing a few CDs since the beginning of the year - please check at home and return any to the Spencer House as soon as possible. Inquirers’ Meetings: Are you considering becoming a member of First Church? Interested in knowing more about our beliefs, core values, programs and ministries? Like to meet some of the church leadership and others who are new to our community? If so, we invite you to our three Inquirers’ Meetings. Child care provided. A light lunch will be available at the 2nd & 3rd sessions. All meetings are Sundays 11:30am – 12:30pm.

Heifer International – Parents are reminded that the Ark Banks should be returned to the box outside the Church School office as soon as possible. Celebrating Mother’s Day: All are invited to honor their own mothers, and mothers everywhere, with the gift of baby items for the Guilford Food Bank: jars of baby food, formula, packaged diapers, etc. A collection box will be in the narthex May 4th and 11th.
Pinchbeck Scholarships: Applications are now being accepted for the William E. & Harriet W. Pinchbeck scholarship. The criteria for selection of recipients are that the scholarship money is used annually to assist needy and deserving students in obtaining their education (including postgraduate education). Applicants need not be affiliated with First Congregational Church, or reside in Guilford. The Board of Deacons will select the recipients. Application forms are in a manila envelope on the Church Office door. Completed forms must be received in the Church Office by June 1st. Recipients will be notified in early June. Save the Date for Brian Gillie! Saturday, May 10th at 7:30pm in our Sanctuary Brian Gillie will present a sing-along Concert in his inimitable style which puts a lively and passionate spin on some classic favorites. All proceeds benefit the First Congregational Church Myrtha Licht Fund and the Guilford Food Bank.
Celebrate Mother’s Day by attending the Roslyn Young Memorial Concert, Sunday, May 11 at 4:00 pm. in our Sanctuary. A concert of Baroque music, it will include works of Handel, Telemann, Vivaldi, Bach and Scarlatti, performed on period instruments by Sonata a Quattro, directed by Judson Griffin. Roslyn, daughter of Jean Young, was a violinist and violist who grew up in Guilford and performed at First Church on many occasions. There will be a suggested donation of $25. 4th Annual Hope Springs Eternal Concert Sunday, May 18, 4 pm in First Church Sanctuary. Benefits The Cove for Grieving Children presented by School for Strings cellist Ann West & students, joined by pianists Rosemarie Tamburri, Kris Iverson and Vicky Reeve and violinist Catherine Dailey, along with Shoreline Brass Ensemble, First Church Junior Choir, and Neighborhood Music School Winds.
