INVITATION TO COMMUNION:
Leader:    Beloved in Christ, the Gospel tells us that on the first day of the week, Jesus Christ was raised from death, appeared to Mary Magdalene, on that same day sat at table with two disciples and was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
All:    This is the joyful feast of the people of God.  Men and women, youth and children, come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and gather about Christ’s table.

Pentecost Next Sunday – Wear Red: On Pentecost we will have one service of worship at 10:00am when we will receive into full membership those in the Confirmation 2 class.  All are invited to this important occasion in the lives of the confirmands and First Church.

Pilgrim Fellowship Meeting Tonight 7:00pm Jacob’s Beach. Leadership report at 6:30pm.  End-of-Year Picnic is next Sunday, June 12th 4:00pm at the church.  Next week the Mission Trip DVD will be shown at 5:00pm in the Sanctuary – all are invited.

Living Out The Parable of the Talents:

  • Plant Sale Today 10am -4pm on the Church Lawn. The flowers, vegetable plants and hanging baskets will be from the North Guilford Nursery.  All profits will go to First Church.  Please come and buy some of the beautiful plants to enhance your house while at the same time supporting our exciting church!  Debbie Peluse 203-453-5517.
  • Barn Party at 6:00pm on June 18th -  Everyone is invited to the Huhn's barn, 465 Clapboard Hill Road for a delicious roast beef and chicken dinner with music and dancing.  Informal attire.  Come celebrate Father's Day, Graduation, an anniversary, a birthday, or the Solstice.  Join your friends! Food Bank Seeking New Volunteers for distribution on Friday afternoons & Saturday mornings. If you know of anyone that might be interested please pass the word along and have them call Lori Wells at 203-453-8359 for questions and an application.

Guilford Food Bank Needs: 100% fruit juices; canned fruit, tuna, ham, hash, stews; pancake/meal/potato/cake/mac & cheese mixes; dry milk, cereal.  You may leave your donations in the narthex.

Shoreline Soul Gospel Concert – The 10th anniversary concert will be held on Sunday, June 5th at 3:00pm at Andrews Memorial in Clinton in order to accommodate the large choir that includes several First Church singers.  No tickets necessary.

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey.  We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ.  These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background.  The Inquirer/

New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it.  Light refreshments will be offered.  New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service.
