Hebrews 13: 1

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS
INTROIT
CALL TO CELEBRATION: from Psalm 34
Leader: O Glorify the Lord with me and let us exalt
God’s name together.
People: I sought the Lord’s help and God answered me;
God set me free from all my terrors.
Leader: Look towards God and shine with joy;
no longer hang your heads with shame.
People: Taste, then, and see that the Lord is good.
Happy is the one who finds refuge in God.
Leader: Which of you delights in life and desires
a long life to enjoy all good things?
People: Then keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from uttering lies;
All: Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.
TIME OF REMEMBRANCE:
Almighty God, who governs the nations with justice and mercy: accept our thanksgiving for this land in all its promise and chaos, failure and fulfillment, and hold in your steadfastness the sweep, height and hope that is America. Help us to honor those who have broken and cleared the way before us. Keep our hearts glad and grateful for the dead and the living who gave and continue to give their talent, service, and life itself to the dream of this nation as sanctuary for the oppressed and homeland for the free.
(Silent remembrance.)
Amen.
*HYMNS & PSALMS# 564 O Beautiful for Spacious Skies (vs 1-3)

RESPONSE OF THE PEOPLE
JOYS AND CONCERNS
LITANY OF RECONCILIATION:
Leader: Lord, if we are going to be peacemakers in this world, we must remember to make peace among ourselves.
People: Break down the walls that separate us, and unite us in hope and love.
Leader: Lord, you made the world and everything in it; you created the human race of one stock and gave us the earth for our possession.
People: Break down the walls that separate us, and unite us in hope and love.
Leader: Lord, we have been divisive in our thinking, in our speech, in our actions; we have classified and imprisoned one another; we have fenced each other out by hatred and prejudice.
People: Break down the walls that separate us, and unite us in hope and love.
Leader: Lord, you mean us to be one family, ruled by peace, feasting in freedom, freed from injustice, truly human men and women responsible and responsive in the life we lead, the love we share, the relationships we create.
People: Break down the walls that separate us, and unite us in hope and love.
Leader: Lord, we shall need ever-new insights into the truth, awareness of your will for all humanity, courage to do what is right even when it is not allowed, persistence in undermining unjust structures until they crumble into dust, grace to exercise a ministry of reconciliation.
People: Break down the walls that separate us, and unite us in hope and love.
Leader: Lord, pour out among us your Spirit that we may each burn with compassion for all who hunger for freedom and humanness; that we may seek to break down the divisions of race and class; that we may search out and destroy all the causes of war.
All: Lord, direct us in ways we do not yet discern and equip us for the service of reconciliation and liberation in your world.
