OFFERTORY: Christ the Lord is Risen Again! John Rutter
Christ the Lord is risen again! Christ hath broken every chain!
Hark, the angels shout for joy, Singing evermore on high, “Alleluia!”
He who gave for us His life, Who for us endured the strife,
Is our Paschal Lamb today! We too sing for joy and say “Alleluia!”
He who bore all pain and loss, Comfortless upon the cross,
Lives in glory now on high, Pleads for us, and hears our cry. Alleluia!
Now he bids us tell abroad How the lost may be restored,
How the penitent forgiven, How we too may enter heaven. Alleluia!
Thou, our Paschal Lamb indeed, Christ, today Thy people feed;
Take our sins and guilt away, That we all may sing for ay, “Alleluia!”

Do you know anyone who suffers from an addiction to alcohol or drugs? Whether or not you do, please join us on Monday, May 2 at 7:30pm in Fellowship Hall for a Prison Ministry Meeting to hear Bob Carini, a certified drug and alcohol counselor. He was with us several years ago and astounded many of us as he described the physiological effects of alcohol addictions and the process of recovering physically, emotionally and spiritually. If you know someone suffering from an addiction, be it alcohol, drugs, gambling, you will want to be there! And maybe even bring them along.
Bob Carini worked for the Connecticut Department of Corrections for over 25 years, many of them at York Correction Women’s Prison, where he also started a parenting program for mothers. In addition you are also welcome to join all those participating in the Prison Ministry of First Congregational Church in Fellowship Hall at 6:30 the same evening. We will hear from all the working committees, and get updates from our mentors working with inmates at York Correctional Institution and Manson Youth Prison. Addiction is one of the main things many incarcerated women and men struggle with. Bob Carini’s presentation will be helpful to mentors and others in the prison ministry to understand what those in the resettlement program are facing. We’ll have refreshments, too!
