We welcome to our pulpit this morning Rev. Nancy E. R. Leckerling, a minister of the United Church of Christ. Nancy served this church as Interim Associate Pastor from December, 1997 to February, 2000. She is a graduate of Yale Divinity School and resides in Madison where she currently has a private pastoral counseling practice. She is married to Jon Leckerling and they have two sons Peter and Christian (Kit) and two grand-children Rowan and Cedar. In her spare time, Nancy studies Mandarin Chinese and enjoys gardening, reading and playing golf and tennis.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Contemporary Worship Service will not be held Labor Day Weekend, Sunday, Sept. 5th. It will resume on Sunday, Oct. 3rd.
The Harvest Fair Plant Room will once again be featuring indoor plants, silk flower arrangements, gardening books, herbal soaps, and decorative garden accessories. A new offering this year will be natural beeswax candles. Please keep us in mind when propagating your indoor plants, and clearing out your garden sheds and book shelves. Donations will be picked up starting on the last week of September. Call Holly Bollier at 203-458-0776 with any questions.
Guilford Interfaith Ministries’ is Looking For People for its Friendly Visiting Program - a group of caring volunteers that visit any homebound, isolated, or lonely Guilford resident once a week for a year. There is no fee and visits are flexible. Visits can be as simple as a quiet conversation or as involved as taking someone on a little adventure. If you are interested in being a volunteer visitor or being visited, please call Lori Wells at 203 453-8359. There is a short orientation for our volunteers.
Pakistani Flood Relief: Church World Service Pakistani staff are working to provide the basics of food packages, shelter materials and non-food essentials to families who have been displaced by the worst flooding there in 80 years. CWS medical teams are also there to provide emergency health services. You are invited (even urged!) to contribute to this effort by writing a check payable either to: Church World Service or to First Congregational Church, Guilford, FOR "Pakistani Flood Relief." Please drop it in the offering plate or at the Church Office.
Guilford Food Bank Needs: 100% fruit juices; canned fruit, tuna, ham, hash, stews; pancake/meal/potato/cake mixes; boxed mac & cheese; dry milk, canned tomato products, dry cereal. You may bring your donations to worship and leave them in the narthex.
