ANNOUNCEMENTS
Contemporary Worship Service – All are invited to worship with us on the first Sunday of the month. This is an informal worship in the Sanctuary with Communion, a sermon and music by the Contemporary Worship band. Join us on August 2 at 5:00pm.
Note that beginning in the fall (Sept. 6th) the service will begin at 6:00pm.
Harvest Fair Sanctuary Exhibit: Calling all quilters / knitters. If you have a quilt (new or old) that you would like to be displayed at this year’s Harvest Fair please let us know! Quilts of the 10 commandments that the Church School children make in the 6th grade are also being accepted for display. We are also looking for Prayer Shawls for the exhibit. Seeking Bread Bakers: Our ministry to welcome visitors to Sunday worship with home-made bread is in knead of additional kneaders. Please join our 20-strong bakers with your loaves for 2 or 3 Sundays during the year. Call Suzanne McGriff at 453-1646 to volunteer.
Journeys in a Jet Age- our summer program for children entering grades 1 – 7 will be held Monday, August 3 - Thursday, August 6. Come meet a dragon from China, a giraffe from Kenya, an elephant from India and a sheep from Peru. Learn to say, "Thank You, God" in four languages. Forms for registration are in the Narthex.
Food Bank Needs: Urgent: canned meat-stew, hash, ham, chili, chicken. Bathroom tissue, juice, snacks, canned fruit, coffee, tea, pancake & cake mixes, dry milk, boxed potato products, tuna or hamburger helper, sugar, flour, dry cereal, boxed mac & cheese.
Community Dining Room offers nutritious meals for individuals and families impacted by the economy. Full Breakfast - Saturdays 9 - 10am. Lunch - Sunday – Friday noon – 1pm. Family Dinner on Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:30pm for families with children. Wednesday Night Carry-out - call Melissa at 488-0447 by noon Tuesday to reserve your dinner. Pick up Wed. between 3:30 – 5:30pm. All meals are offered at no charge. CDR is located at 30 Harrison Avenue in Branford.

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ. These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background. The Inquirer/
New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it. Light refreshments will be offered. New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service. If you have questions, please speak with a minister.
