Wilcox Lectures 10/30 - 11/1 |

Dr. Phyllis Trible
Old Testament Professor Emerita, Union Seminary, New York
Wilcox Lecturer First Congregational Church, Guilford October 30-November 1
The Bible offers diverse and competing points of view that compel readers to wrestle with it as they encounter its curses and blessings. In the Wilcox Lectures we shall wrestle through five characters who are variously neglected, maligned, and exalted: Miriam in Exodus; Jezebel in Kings; Jesus in the Gospels; Huldah in Kings; and Jacob in Genesis. We will seek to retell their stories and so uncover interpretations that strengthen and challenge our thinking about faith.
