Welcome to the new First Church web site!
Your very small web team is working to develop a more functional site for church members and for readers around the world who are interested in who we are and what we do. This new site will be evolving over a period of months.
The old site is still available for the time being from the "old website" tab at the left of your screen...
For the technically minded, we are using the open-source tool called "Joomla" to recast our web information. This is an example of a Content Management System (CMS). Web pages are generated "on the fly" from data stored in a MySQL database.
The promise of a CMS system is that it should be much simpler for us to enter new "content", hopefully at the same time our church documents are created. For example, we should be able to publish our Landmark and Sunday Bulletins on the web nearly as soon as they are available for printing. The process is similar to producing a newspaper. Authors are able to type or paste their articles directly into a web page.
We are looking for more folks to bolster the church web and document team. If you are interested, please drop me a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

We welcome to our church life all who seek the presence of God, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We offer Inquirers’ Meetings to those interested in learning more about First Church and the United Church of Christ. These meetings are also for those who seek membership, and are especially helpful to those coming from a different denomination or faith background. The Inquirer/
New Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 11:30am in the Minear Library in Spencer House. Child care is available; please call the Church Office to request it. Light refreshments will be offered. New members will be received on May 13th during the 10:00am service. If you have questions, please speak with a minister.
UCC Daily Devotional

Dazzling
You probably never do this, but I sometimes sort of skip over the verses from Scripture and go right to the rest of the devotion, especially when — like today — it's a long reading.
